Many features in a handsome, reliable package.Dec 19, 2008 (Note: This review is for the bl9000-59l, identical to the watch pictured above but has a blue/cream color scheme rather than black-and-white. Everything else is the same.)
Having had my eye on this watch for about a year, I noticed prices have come down considerably and this is because this watch is discontinued and will no longer be available. I you want one, I suggest you consider purchasing fairly soon. This is my second Citizen Eco-Drive.
I really enjoy wearing this watch. Some may consider it a dress watch, but its extroverted styling and dial complications make it perfect for casual, everyday use as well. The orange date hand and am/pm indicator catch the eye and the accordion background gives the dial a high-class texture that offsets the alarm/dual time/month and second/charge indicator subdials. Although I've not owned this watch for a long time, it has already received a number of compliments. When luminous, the glow-in-the-dark hands and tick marks are an elegant blue rather than the more typical green and the glow is very long-lasting. I've found that it keeps perfect time and the hands line up perfectly with the tick marks on the main dial and subdials.
The band is steel link (a combination of polished and matte finishes) and the links are fine enough that a comfortable adjustment can fit just about any wrist. The clasp is a butterfly design that is self-hiding when closed so that design is seamless.
Although I doubt I'll be using the minute repeater function, the electronic sound mimics an actual chime pretty well compared to other watch alarms. The dual-time, alarm, chiming, and adjusting functions are done via the three buttons and the crown. The action of these buttons feels solid and high quality rather than loose and cheap.
Everything about this watch exudes quality and attention to detail. Again, Citizen has discontinued this model, so it won't be available for very long and at the price I paid it is quite a find.
Highly recommended.

Great WatchJul 27, 2008 I have had many watches, from TAG to Citizen to Accutron. I have to say this is one of the best and most accurate watches i have ever owned. Great design by Citizen, and people are always asking about it. The orange date hand really sets this thing off. The repeater function is nice if your in a dimly lit area where the glow from the dials and hands barely show, then the repeater make it easy to tell the time. This is my 2nd Citizen watch the old one I had was about 10 years old (Promaster series) and worked great until I replaced it with this model. The band is pretty scratch resistant and holds up well to "desk diving" (scratches on the underside of the band caused from rubbing on the desk surface) Citizen makes a durable and reliable watch that wont disappoint.
