5Another winning CitizenJul 12, 2009
I received this as a Christmas present almost 2 years ago after my previous Citizen watch outlived its calendar and the face had become scratched beyond saving (only 15 years). That watch still works, but a new one was warranted. I researched a lot and since I like sailing, I settled on the Sailhawk for its looks and functionality. The old watch had analog and digital and I really like that, so it was a prerequisite for the new watch. Since Citizen updated all of their digital watches to perpetual calendars, this was really a no-brainer for me.

I opted for the leather watch band because it was on MAJOR sale at the time and it worked out price-wise in the long run. I wear the watch every day and the band is now breaking and in need of replacing. I will be getting a metal band to replace it - and it will be a Citizen band since I tire easily with the "replace with a cheapy then repeat in two years" game.

The watch itself: yes it is big (tall, really) but I became used to it within a week. I do have a tendency to whack it on various things, however, since it does sit higher off my arm than the old one. But I tended to whack the old one, too, (see comment about the scratched face above) so maybe it's just me... The luminescence of the dial is much better than the old watch and I can make out the time easily even at 4 am (after midnight with the old one it was a real struggle). The Eco feature is perfect as far as I can tell - I've never had any problems with it, nor do I expect to. And I love not having to get the batteries changed every 18 months!

Overall I've extremely happy with this watch and highly recommend it for anyone looking for a nice watch with some real useful functionality for sailing. I hope to revisit this review in 10 or 15 years to report that it's still functioning perfectly.

5Citizen Yachting = not "Stars & Stripes| - WatchSep 08, 2008
When ordering the "Citizen Yachting Watch" the confirmation changed the name to "Citizen Stars and Stripes Watch", so I cancelled the order. I then rang the supplier, Jomashop, who advised that, despite the change of name, I would receive the Yachting watch, so I went ahead with the purchase.
Excellent watch, exactly as ordered, supplied to Ireland in a very quick time, at a fraction of Irish High Street prices.
I will use this supplier again.

3Beautiful and ComplicatedJan 13, 2008
This is a beautiful watch. It looks incredible. However we are still trying to figure out how to program it.

5Great Watch!!Jan 07, 2008
Great watch!! Got this bad johnny at a Wicked price, shipped and delivered to me at an APO address in a very timely fashion.

The watch works great. any question you have can be answered by the manual (which is a freakishly huge novel) or if you lose that it comes with a CD-Rom and if you loose that, check it out online at Citizens website. I am pretty rough on my watch and I dont have any noticable scratches so I would say that it is Extremely scratch resistant.

EDIT-- the band clasp does however scratch, the rest of the watch seems almost impervious to scratches

5Another great addition to the Eco-Drive LineSep 01, 2006
I recently purchased this watch, and so far am very impressed. With all the world-time/alarm/calendar/chrono functions, you would be hard pressed to be lacking anything you might need in a watch. I own many watches, including high end pieces such as Breitling and Omega, but am always impressed with Citizen's value per dollar and ability to deliver a consistently quality product. The solar poward eco-drive system is probably the most sensible movement to have in a watch, with no maintenence needed or batteries to replace, and a 4 year power reserve that is way more than anyone could possibly need. The watch has a quality feel unlike many overseas brands, and I love the new and improved "Yachtmaster-like" bezel on this model. It's also nice to have both analog and digital displays, as well as 30 time zones available with a push of a button. The watch looks beautiful on the wrist, but just a warning that it is a deep watch that sits a little bit high. My only possible complaint is that it is a little tricky to figure out how to set it at first, which will require some reading of the manual. Also, I wish Citizen would put a Sapphire crystal in more of their watches, I for one would be willing to pay the extra dough.

Excellent watch overall.
