Anna Jan 22, 2008 I bought this watch for my husband and I really like it. The shiping was fast and the product is exactly what I expected. The watch is rather big, but beautifull. The eco-drive function is great - no more bateries. Definitely 5 stars.
Great WatchJan 09, 2008 The ONLY negative comment I have concerning this watch is the size. Were it not for that I would give it the full 5 stars, but that is simply my personal preference. It is a little large for me, though I do have a small wrist. It is not, however, too large. It is a nice looking and versatile timepiece and was very easy to set using the interactive CD that came with it. I like the colors of the roman numerals (blue) and the hands (navy). I have also heard from professionals that Citizen is a good company to deal with, particularly when compared to Seiko which does not have a good reputation.
Great piece.Dec 07, 2007 The Calibre 8651 is a great watch for the money. I wear this watch to work and have received many positive comments on it (most recently from a man who wore a Breitling for Bentley piece that retails for around $7k.) Most who have asked about it are very surprised to find out I paid less than $225 even after opting for the quicker shipping.
Pros:
I was surprised to find it came with a deployant clasp. This is a great feature that cleans up the look of the band, prevents the wear from a buckle, and is seldom found on $200 watches.
Face looks amazing.
Craftsmanship is great regardless of price.
The size is masculine but still thin enough and subdued enough to look 100% at home with a suit.
The Eco-Drive mechanism is nice to have for a daily wearer. When I'm running late for watch, I don't like to have to reset my watch.
Cons:
The face, while very aesthetic, is hard to read if glancing quickly. I often mistake the date hand for the second hand. I would have liked there to be more size difference between the hour and minute hands.
On the same note, the crystal is convex and this makes it hard to read the time if not looking at the face of the watch head-on.
The watch is rather light (something like 75-80g). I like the feel of a heavier watch (I know many will consider this a pro).
Some people may not care for the faux Crocodile band.
The movement is quartz (not exciting from an engineering standpoint).
With the date, day, month, and moon phase being displayed, it's not fun to set at the beginning of a new month if the calendar doesn't transition properly.
Overall, I am very pleased with my Calibre 8651 and would definitely recommend it to anybody looking for a dressier watch that offers unbeatable value for the price.
Great watch, stylishJun 24, 2007 I wanted a leather band moon phase watch from Citizen. This is perfect.
Things that are great about this watch:
- Stylish. Looks good with roman numerals, and kudos to Citizen for packing so much stuff on the watch face and still making it easy to figure out what's what.
- Shows Month, date, day of week, moon phase, and time.
- Day of the month is indicated by another hand that looks like a second hand, but is squiggly. Nice touch. After 10 hours of looking at it, I already am used to it. No confusing it with the second hand.
- Is fairly easy to set the different things (day, month, etc.).
- Supposedly a "forever" battery that charges by the sunlight.
- Second hand is silent. No "tick, tick, tick".
Things that are potential bothersome (just got it, so maybe these will grow on me):
- A tiny bit too thick for what I would ideally want. But not very heavy, so maybe ok.
- The leather band is not a traditonal leather band -- it is a clasp style band that looks like a traditional leather band when you hinge it shut. If I get bothered by this I'll change it to a more tradional band.
- I wish they offered this in a brown leather band instead of black. But still very good looking.
- Hands on the face glow in the dark. This is a dress watch. I don't need glow in the dark hands.
Overall, outstanding watch. 5 stars.

Excellent watch with moon phaseMay 30, 2007 Excellent watch. The only difficulty to set the watch was to obtain the correct information for the moon phase. The watch came without charge so I left it 6 hours under indirect daylight; the low charge mechanism works great. It is my second Citizen Eco Watch, and I am very satisfied; I will certainly buy another watch from this series. It has a large case which looks great. Only complaint is the belt which is not very soft out of the box, but wearing it for a while fixes the problem.
Great gift idea.
